Sing it! – The 12 Days of Christmas

Most of us are familiar with the Christmas song, The 12 Days of Christmas, even though many folks might have a bit of trouble getting the lyrics of the song right after about the sixth day! This song has been sung for generations, and is a traditional part of our Christmas season. There have even been many versions of the song. The structure lends itself well to variation and humor. But have you ever stopped to think about what this silly song really is really all about? While there is some disagreement among historians over the definite purpose for The 12 Days of Christmas, the theories regarding this fun and vibrant song are quite interesting.

What was the greatest Christmas movie of them all?

The Christmas season becomes an interesting time every year for your entertainment and viewing pleasure. The reason for this is that there are a number of holiday television and film favorites that are so well made that they attract new audiences year after year. Granted, some really great animated Christmas specials have seemingly been lost to history and are not often repeated (The Flintstone’s Christmas Special was a classic and one of my personal favorites that has yet to be given a DVD release and its appearances on TV are non-existent)

The World Wide History of Christmas

Christmas is the biggest holiday of the year, bar none. It is celebrated world-wide with a variety of traditions and folklore. But when did the history of Christmas begin? It was long before the mass merchants and retailers were capitalizing on Christmas. Every culture has its own history of Christmas that signifies the beginning of the holiday in various countries. Here in the United States we have our own rich history of Christmas, which originated much later than many of the older countries of the world. However, the very first Christmas was celebrated in a town called Bethlehem, more than 2000 years ago, and this is the history of Christmas that most people are familiar with.
